Virginia “Ginny” Sue Hodge, 67, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021 in St. Vincent Ascension Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born in Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle on March 16, 1954.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Earl C. and Marjorie U. Nicholson, and a sister, Margaret “Maggie” Lynn Johnson.

She is survived by her sons, Bradley James Simmons (Megan) of Lizton and Shane Allen Willey of Cloverdale; sisters Lola Little of Crawfordsville, Earlene Gossard of Greencastle, Vicky Hunt (James) of Cloverdale and Rhonda Bunney (Randy) of Greencastle; brothers Ernie Nicholson of Cloverdale and Rob Nicholson (Michelle) of Cloverdale; and her companion, Alan Coffey of Martinsville. She was Gigi to her grandchildren, Dalen Simmons, Kaden Simmons and Lilah Simmons.

She had several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and one great-great-nephew.

She worked in the office of Invest Putnam, Inc.

Ginny graduated from South Putnam High School in 1972. Ginny and Alan were planning on getting married this year.

To her family, she was the bravest and strongest woman we know.

She was a great cook, a clean freak — always cleaning, neatness always counted, everything in its place — appreciative of what she had. She was a giver, wanting to help.

She really enjoyed her coffee and she had been known to put a little Bailey’s in it on occasion.

Friends are invited to visit with family at Soul Harvest Church in Cloverdale from noon-1 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, with a memorial service beginning at 1 p.m. with Pastor Matt Nichols officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Putnam County or the charity of the donor’s choice.
