Kyle Grubb

Kyle Grubb, 70, Longmont, Colo., died on Monday, July 19, 2021.

Kyle was born on Oct. 10, 1950 in Greencastle to the farm family of Marion and Mary Grubb.

He graduated from Fillmore High School in Fillmore and went on to pursue an education in computer programming at Lear Sigler Institute in Indianapolis.

On June 28, 1991, in a picturesque love story fashion, he married Maristela Sattler in her hometown of Curitiba, Brasil. Shortly after, Kyle and Maristela moved together to Tucson, Ariz., for a couple of years before settling down in Longmont, Colo. They they raised two sons, Joseph and Brian.

Kyle enjoyed working for IBM for nearly four decades as an IT computer programmer.

Kyle loved all things sports, cartooning, dogs, cinema, vehicles, rock and roll, Americana, history, but most importantly time with his sons. Kyle had several sports cars, trucks and motorcycles throughout the years, each one with many fun stories attached to them.

Kyle was well known for being able to carry on a long conversation with anyone, due to his sympathetic nature.

Kyle enjoyed all things classic rock, including having worked at Columbia Records for several years in the 1970s.

Kyle always had a soft spot for pets and animals. He had several beloved dogs, as well as a cat and monkey, throughout the years. He was often referred to as a “dog whisperer” or the like due to his uncanny ability to understand and communicate his love to animals.

The only thing he loved more than God’s critters were his wife and sons. Kyle’s sons fondly recall spending quality time at the movies with popcorn and action flicks, stopping on walks to talk to and about the trees and putting back together the pieces of a broken widget or vehicle in the garage.

LifeBridge Christian Church was his church home for the last 30 years, where he spent Saturday evenings worshiping with friends and family. Kyle always had a very close, unique relationship with God. He will forever be remembered for his ability to make anyone feel like family, his pure, witty form of humor and his deep love for his whole family.

Kyle was preceded in death by his parents Marion and Mary, as well as his brother, Bernard, and his sister, Beverly.

He is survived by his wife, Maristela, and his two sons, Joseph and Brian, as well as his sister, Marsha.

A memorial service was held at LifeBridge Christian Church on Thursday, July 22.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in Kyle’s honor to the Longmont Humane Society.
