To the Editor:

Greencastle Professional Firefighters Local 5125 would like to thank everyone for the involvement in our 21st-annual golf scramble to support the Hoosier Burn Camp that was held on June 26 at Tiger Pointe Country Club.

The Hoosier Burn Camp programs help burn survivors from infancy through young adulthood build self-esteem and realize their highest potential as they overcome the pain and trauma associated with a severe burn injury. They create worry-free environments where young burn survivors can just be one of the kids while they develop the personal strength to reach that potential.

The cost to send a child to the Hoosier Burn Camp for one week every year is $1,000, and we are pleased to announce we were able to raise enough money to send two children this year to the Burn Camp. With the 10 teams that played in the scramble (all of which donated their winnings back) and our sponsors, we had a very successful campaign this year.

We would like to thank the following sponsors: Tiger Pointe Country Club, Heather Taylor - State Farm Insurance, Walmart, Union Graphics, BreadWorks, Anthony Taylor of Putnam County EMS, 3-D Tire and Service, Auto Parts Outlet, Banner Graphic, Mill Pond Health Campus, Thomas Garage Door Sales, Cash Concrete, Sutphen Corporation, Putnam Plastics, Prime Real Estate Group, Elks Lodge, Moore’s Bar, Hendershot’s Service Center, Collins-Evans Real Estate, JTN Services, Families of Heroes (the Brown family), Dave and Amy Wells, Dave Roberts, A.A. Huber and Sons, Boller Excavating, Fordice Farms, Lifespring Church and Putnam County Hospital.

After an amazing day on the new and beautiful Tiger Pointe Country Club, the team of Dave Wells, Amy Wells, Brad Query and Matt Helmer were victorious, followed closely by the team of Jeff Mace, Hannah Cline, Brad Downing and Crista Miller, with the third-place team consisting of Chris Query, Joe Thomas, Spencer Brown and Eric Reske. All the other teams enjoyed a nice day of golf. In a show of amazing talent, Matt Helmer and Hannah Cline won the closest-to-the-pin awards, while Amy Wells and Seth Stockton won the longest drive awards.

If you would like more information on donating to the Hoosier Burn Camp, you can contact your local fire department or visit www.hoosierburncamp.org.

Again, we would like to thank all of our sponsors and golfers past and present, and look forward to seeing everyone next year with helping us achieve our goal of sending three children to camp.
