County Jail

Nine people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 11:02 a.m. Matthew L. Krider, 40, Brazil, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

Wednesday

• At 1:56 a.m. Cheryl L. Tomasik, 38, Cloverdale, was taken into custody on a warrant.

Tuesday

• At 4:29 p.m. David C. Hutcheson, 54, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for driving as a habitual traffic violator.

• At 11:46 a.m. Skyler F. Mann, 25, Hammond, was booked in for theft.

• At 9:47 a.m. Damon T. Rivers, 45, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

• At 1:20 a.m. Jory P. Bell, 39, Indianapolis, was taken into custody on a warrant.

Monday

• At 10:24 p.m. Aslin R. Renner, 28, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on a Marion County warrant.

• At 7:08 p.m. John B. Inman Jr., 25, Greencastle, was booked in on a warrant.

• At 12:30 p.m. Austin T. Jester, 30, Muncie, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 12:55 a.m. Thursday, Deven Reed, 22, Terre Haute, was arrested by Capt. Charles Inman.

Taken into custody on County Road 200 West, Reed was arrested and lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a Vigo County warrant for failure to appear in court on a possession of marijuana charge.

With no county units reportedly available at the time, Capt. Inman responded to a call about someone being parked in a private driveway and discovered Reed was wanted on a warrant.

• At 8:58 p.m. Monday, Anthony Leonard, 25, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Angela Taylor.

Taken into custody at the McClure station off Bloomington Street, Leonard was lodged in the Putnam County Jail for criminal trespass.

• At 9:32 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, Patricia Colantonio, 30, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Alec Pettit.

Arrested at an Elizabeth Street residence, Colantonio was booked into the jail on a Putnam County warrant for theft.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, Michael A. Fikes, 22, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 550 South in a 2006 Ford Mustang when he hit a deer.

Deputy Daniel Birt estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 6:49 a.m. on Monday, Anthony Brown, 23, Montezuma, was eastbound on U.S. 36 in a 2005 Mercedes Benz ML 350 when he lost control and left the road.

Brown told Deputy Tanner Brown the vehicle had been having issues with its traction control and that while driving, the traction control slipped, which caused him to lose control and enter a field, where it rolled approximately three times.

A witness told the deputy the car was traveling when it suddenly darted left and into the field. The witness stopped and helped the driver out of the car.

Deputy Brown estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000. The car was towed.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three recent incidents:

• At 4:37 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 800 W. Maple Ave. for smoke in the residence. Firefighters arrived at 4:45 and did not find any signs of a fire. GFD went back into service at 5:14 a.m.

• At 6:02 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 492 Glenview Dr. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:08 and did not find a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 6:27 p.m.

• At 12:21 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Walmart Distribution for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:30 and were advised that the alarm was accidentally triggered by staff working on the sprinkler system. GFD went back into service at 12:37 a.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed seven medical assists and had one disregard.
