• At 10:17 a.m. on Tuesday, Brihanna L. Pearson, 24, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2010 Kia Optima. In front of her was a 2000 Buick LeSabre driven by Cynthia K. Hanks, 61, Greencastle.

Pearson told Deputy Tanner Brown she saw Hanks slowing down and applied her brakes, which she said “stuck.” So she let off her brakes and applied them again, at which point her car started sliding in the gravel on the side of the road, briefly turning sideways before striking Hanks’ vehicle.

Hanks said she was slowing to turn right onto County Road 200 North. She said her turn signal was activated and she had begun her turn when Pearson’s car hit hers in the passenger side.

Brown estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.
