Albert ‘Pete’ Charles Noland Jr.

Albert “Pete” Charles Noland Jr., 92, of Roachdale, went to his heavenly home on the morning of Aug. 26, 2021.

He was born on Dec. 13, 1928 in Roachdale to the late Albert Charles Noland Sr. and Gail Leachman Noland.

He married Mary Frances “Toadie” Stewart on the Stewart family farm on Oct. 4, 1959. She survives.

Albert graduated from Roachdale High School in 1946 and then attended and graduated from Indiana Barber School. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for four years, and spent one year in Iceland during the Korean War. After discharge, he again began barbering in Roachdale. He had been in business serving the community for 66-and-a-half years before retiring in 2002.

He was a member of the Roachdale Christian Church for 77 years, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, deacon and historian. He was also a member of the Roachdale Masonic Lodge #602 F&AM and the Roachdale Puzzle Club. Pete loved good music, traveling, fireworks, history, his family, church and town.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Gail (Gerald) Powell of Zionsville and Sarah (Chris) Schubert of Heritage Lake; six grandchildren, twins Aaron (Jenny) and Andrew (Savannah) Powell, Ann Powell, twins Abigail and Katherine Schubert and James Schubert; brother Jerry Noland of Newburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Avaline Warmouth and Mary Stafford.

Funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at Roachdale Christian Church, 1 N. Walnut St., Roachdale, with Pastor Phil Barns officiating. He will be laid to rest in Roachdale Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church from 2 p.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers and due to Pete’s special love for fireworks, contributions may be made for his celebration of life fireworks display at dusk on Sept. 11 in Roachdale Cemetery.
