County Jail

Eleven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 6:53 p.m. Earl C. Nicholson, 32, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 10:28 a.m. Logan S. Campbell, 32, Greencastle, was booked in on a court order.

• At 9:50 a.m. Damian D. Lakes, 24, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 5:42 a.m. Amanda S. Jones, 48, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for battery, battery against a public safety officer and resisting law enforcement.

Tuesday

• At 10:20 p.m. Raymond L. Gardner, 63, Fillmore, was housed at the jail for unlawful possession or use of a legend drug and driving while intoxicated.

• At 11:26 a.m. Teresa B. Hall, 54, Greencastle, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine and false informing.

Monday

• At 1:41 a.m. Dustin L. Young, 25, Washington, Ind., was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

Saturday

• At 3:29 p.m. Carol M. Anderson, 44, Quincy, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

• At 6:14 a.m. Steven L. Samora, 37, Bainbridge, was booked in for domestic battery, strangulation, driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction, driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident.

Friday, Sept. 3

• At 7:44 p.m. Donald J. Bickley, 55, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

• At 8:04 a.m. Brice C. Steinbaker, 30, Greencastle, was booked in for possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication and driving while intoxicated.

City Police

Four recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, John C. Sears, 64, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Nick Eastham.

Taken into custody at a West Seminary Street residence, Sears was lodged in the Putnam County Jail for criminal recklessness with a vehicle, intimidation with a vehicle and aggressive driving.

• At 2:45 a.m. Sunday, Alexis L. Coley, 25, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Jared McDaniel.

Coley was taken into custody at Washington and Arlington streets on a Vigo County warrant for failure to appear in court on a reckless driving charge.

• At 1:54 a.m. Saturday, Matthew T. White, 29, Bainbridge, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Taken into custody on the parking lot of 3G Bowl on South Jackson Street, White was lodged at the jail for battery resulting in serious bodily injury.

• At 11:36 p.m. Keven D. Crowe, 30, Coatesville, was arrested by Officer Alec Pettit.

Taken into custody at Putnam County Hospital, Crowe was booked into the jail for domestic battery and strangulation.

One recent summons was issued by city officers.

• At 7:12 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, Alan Rush, 50, Indianapolis, was cited by Officer Eastham.

Stopped on Bloomington Street, Rush was cited for illegally passing a stopped school bus.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 11:28 p.m. on Sunday, Colton M. Clifford, 18, Roachdale, was westbound on County Road 1000 North when a deer ran into the side of his 1997 GMC pickup.

Deputy Robert Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 7:10 p.m. on Saturday, Brittainy D. Crowder, 32, Montezuma, was southbound on Manhattan Road in a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee when she lost control in a bend in the road.

Crowder told Deputy Soilleux she started to skid, so she applied her brakes, which resulted in the vehicle spinning 180 degrees and sliding sideways into the ditch on the opposite side of the road, where it rolled onto its passenger side.

Crowder’s two passengers were uninjured, but she complained of wrist pain and was treated by Putnam County EMS medics at the scene.

The vehicle was towed. Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to four recent incidents:

• At 1:04 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to the Inn at DePauw for a smoke alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:06 and determined the alarm was due to a bad smoke detector in the boiler room. Maintenance was notified, and GFD went back into service at 1:30 p.m.

• At 4:47 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at AutoZone. Firefighters arrived at 4:50 and cleaned up debris. GFD went back into service at 5:01 p.m.

• At 5:23 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was called to 1131 Avenue D for an outside fire. Firefighters arrived at 5:29 and found a mattress being burned in the yard. Firefighters advised the homeowner of the city burn ordinance and the fire was extinguished. GFD went back into service at 5:43 p.m.

• At 8:28 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Pi Beta Phi on the DePauw University campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:32 and could not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 8:43 p.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed nine medical assists, had one disregard and found no incident on one dispatch.
