Fillmore Chicken Barbecue to return Friday, Saturday

Monday, September 13, 2021

FILLMORE -- After being canceled last year due to COVID precautions, the annual Fillmore Chicken Barbecue will be held this weekend at the Fillmore Volunteer Fire Department.

Serving will begin this Friday at 5 p.m. and then at noon on Saturday. Meanwhile, the traditional parade will get under way at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The menu and prices are still to be determined, as the food is being planned based on previous years. The fire department will provide an update on its Facebook page prior to the event.

Raffle prizes include a 70-inch high-definition television and a patio set. Tickets will be available at the station during the event and the winners will be drawn Saturday evening. They will not need to be present to win.

Everyone is encouraged to come and enjoy the food and atmosphere, but also to stay home if feeling ill. As with past years, to-go containers will be available.

The Fillmore Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1958 and held its first Chicken Barbecue in 1959. The event has been its primary source of fundraising since then.
