Wednesday, September 15, 2021

William "Cody" Pennington, age 31, of Quincy, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Cody was born July 14, 1990 and was introduced to all as William Cody Pennington, the son of Dale Pennington and Pamela Metzger of Gosport.

Cody attended Cloverdale schools and graduated in 2009. While in high school, he met his wife, Kate Chambers. They were high school sweethearts and married in April of 2018. Soon after, they added to their family with their daughter Amberlynn and their son William “Carson.”

His family and friends knew him as kind and full of life, an adventurous young man that was always willing to lend a helping hand at any time. Cody formed many strong friendships over the years, and they considered each other brothers, more than just friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and four-wheeling, socializing and working on projects with his “brothers.” His friends nicknamed him “Lunchbox,” or “Box” for short, in grade school and it has stuck until this day.

Cody was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Metzger.

He is survived by his wife, Kate Chambers Pennington; son William “Carson” Pennington; daughter Amberlynn Arand; father Dale Pennington; brother Jeremy (Sarah) Bellmore; sister Michelle (Justin) Sorter; brother-in-law Kyle Chambers; nieces and nephews Keano Bellmore, Kiarra Bellmore, Kaydon Bellmore, Elijah Bellmore, Ean Bellmore, Isaiah Bellmore, Jesse Hilbert, Chyanne Hilbert and Yasmin Sorter; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Cody will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the service time of 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Academy, c/o Cody Pennington, 11612 Hwy. 243, Cloverdale, IN 46120, where his children attend school.

“It pains me to admit it, but apparently, I have passed away.
Everyone told me it would happen one day,
but that’s simply not something I wanted to hear, much less experience.
Once again I didn’t get things my way!
That’s been the story of my life all my life.
No buildings named after me; no monuments erected in my honor.
But I DID have the chance to know and love each and every friend,
as well as all my family members.
How much more blessed can a person be?
I’ll leave you with this… please don’t cry because I’m gone;
Instead, be happy that I was here.
(Or maybe you can cry a little bit. After all, I have passed away).

Today I am happy and I am four-wheeling in the clouds.

Probably a little too fast for comfort, but having a blast!

Love you forever,”
