North Putnam makes it 4-for-4 in county golf titles
CLOVERDALE — For the first time all season, all four Putnam County girls’ golf teams were at complete to compete just in time for the Putnam County Match Monday at Clover Meadows.
Paced by a medalist-round of 44 by senior Ashley Lawless, North Putnam extended its reign over the county by winning a fourth-straight title with a round of 208, bettering South Putnam’s 216 with Greencastle third on 235 and Cloverdale in fourth on 257.
Lawless was backed by a tight bunch with Makenna Lough shooting 53, Gabbi Simonson carding a 55 and Morgan Mason coming on 56 while Madison House shot 61.
Madie and Alie Newby both shot 47 to pace the Eagles while Ava Watson carded a 59 and both Megan Arnold and Mackenzie Lovett shot 63.
Ryleigh Tuttle paced the Tiger Cubs with a 54, followed in by Lilli Oliver on 55, Kadence Shaner on 57 and dueling 69s from Emily Gray and Grace Long.
Aliyah Maldanado led the Clovers with a round of 61 with Kendal Faletic in on 62 and Kaitlen Kerr and Keirsten Wade carding rounds of 67 while Hannah McLaughlin shot 72.
All-County honors went to the top-seven golfers, which included Lawless, Madie and Alie Newby, Lough, Tuttle, Oliver and Simonson.
South Putnam, Greencastle and Cloverdale will compete in the Northview Sectional Friday starting at 9 a.m. while North Putnam will take part in the Attica Sectional Saturday beginning at 8 a.m.
