Patricia Joanne (Hughes) Ebel

Patricia Joanne (Hughes) Ebel, 65, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving daughter, Elizabeth, her life partner and angel, David Cole, and her best friend, Kathy Johnson.

The family is deeply saddened by her death, though they rejoice in knowing that she is now with her savior in heaven.

Patty spent her childhood in Roachdale before moving to Fort Wayne and graduating in the class of 1974 from Snider High School, where she was a cheerleader.

She built a successful business and was a force of nature in any and all endeavors she pursued. She recently retired to an RV lifestyle spending time with friends and family. She loved being in nature, hiking, camping, biking and music.

Patty is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ebel (William); stepsons Robert Ebel (Dawn) and Andrew Ebel (Kelly); her parents Richard and Lola Hughes; siblings Nancy Taylor (Denny), Richard A. Hughes (Becky), Peggy Rinard (Phil) and Marilyn Smith (Mike); seven nieces and nephews (whom she adored); uncle Alan Hughes (Betty); uncle Henry Webb; and an abundance of family and friends.

Patty was a member of North Liberty Church of Christ (65225 State Rd. 23, North Liberty, IN 46554) where her services will be held. Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 19 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20 with burial service to follow at Roachdale Cemetery (3788 State Rd. 236, Roachdale IN, 46172) at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Contributions in memory of Patty’s 20-year battle with cancer can be made to the American Cancer Society, Making Strides of South Bend and Elkhart or Secret Sisters Society.

We will all miss her more than words can express.
