FILLMORE — Accused of stealing from a business in eastern Putnam County, a Coal City man found himself lodged at the Putnam County Jail Monday evening.

Police were dispatched to Chandler’s Orchard and Country Market on a report of breaking and entering. Putnam County sheriff’s deputies and Indiana State Troopers converged on the scene to discover the suspect had already fled.

However, with a description of the vehicle provided by the victim, Deputy Hunter Gambill soon located the fleeing suspect just up the road at the Hendricks County line.

Gambill stopped the vehicle and took the suspect into custody.

Dwight Patton, 64, was booked in the Putnam County Jail at 7:37 p.m., on the preliminary charges of Level 5 felony burglary and Level 5 felony theft.
