Man shot in road rage incident along I-70

Thursday, September 23, 2021

MONROVIA -- At approximately 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Hendricks County deputies were dispatched to a truck stop at State Road 39 and Interstate 70 regarding a person with a gunshot wound to the lower leg.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident began as a road rage incident while the suspect and victim vehicles were traveling eastbound on I-70 near the 57-mile marker, west of State Road 39.

Reportedly, the victim’s vehicle, a Subaru Outback, was traveling in the left lane of I-70 when a white car with dark tinted windows -- possibly a Hyundai Elantra -- passed the Subaru on the right and then abruptly cut in front of the Subaru.

The victim driving the Subaru then changed into the right lane and pulled up next to the white car, when a passenger in the white car fired a gun multiple times at the Subaru, striking the driver of the Subaru in the lower leg. The male victim driving the Subaru exited I-70 at State Road 39, stopped at the TA Truck Stop and called for assistance.

The suspect vehicle reportedly continued eastbound on I-70.

The incident occurred in approximately the same area in which former Greencastle Mayor Mike Harmless and wife Susie were shot at in mid-August. One bullet lodged in the back seat of the Harmless car after passing through the rear passenger door.

The male victim Thursday sustained non-life-threatening injuries to the lower leg and was transported to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment.

A female passenger and infant who were also in the Subaru at the time of the incident fortunately were not injured.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white four-door passenger car with dark tinted windows, possibly a Hyundai Elantra, occupied by at least three black males.

Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 317-745-9276 regarding case number 21-7769.

  • I hope they will be found and arrested soon. Just shooting, and possibly killing, innocent people is devastating. They need to be be behind bars where they can't hurt anyone else.

  • Hey, what happened to the previous bloggers; there were at least four or five.

I waddled up to MacDonald's for some comfort food, two double cheeseburgers, large order of fries, and a large Pepsi, and when I return, the comments were deleted!

  • @Queen53--The BG has a history of censoring anything they want to delete. BG should be "The Peoples Republic of Putnam county.

P.S. They will probably delete my comment as well.

  • RSOTS/Koios-Yep, Lou's would be closer, but I'd be the last to deny the medicinal qualities of a double cheeseburger and a large order of fries during a time of internal/external national strife and a raging pandemic.

BTW, what happened to the previous comments? Did someone say something funny?

Next time, I read the BANNER comment section before I waddle up to MacDonald's, not after!

The BG apparently doesn't like it when you say things (that are true) that make them uncomfortable.

And yeah, I definitely would've said it in front of my Grandma.

It's a reality played out on newscasts nightly.

  • BJCP96-At the grain elevator way west of the Mississippi, where I almost grew up, everything was called a Pepsi, even the orange drink. You more-civilized folks call it a soda. Old habits are hard to break.

DPR! I understand it, now. I was wondering what the percentages meant. You don't spare any punches, do you! That's funny. Wish I'd looked a bit closer at today's comments!

  • It’s also a well known figure used by white supremacists. Especially when combined with the other figure your buddy posted right after you posted yours. So there is that to factor into the equation.

  • I seriously doubt if there are any "white supremacists" reading the BANNER.

  • The comment reporting system here has been explained over and over. It’s simple. Comment gets reported, it’s removed until someone reviews it. Usually they’re restored but sometimes removed permanently.

Just wait. Most of the comments will be back.

  • @Koios just because you want people who disagree with you to be white supremacists or Nazis doesn’t mean they are.

-- Posted by techphcy on Fri, Sep 24, 2021, at 8:37 PM
  • Tech - before your comment was deleted you said for yourself they were racist comments. Is white supremacists such a stretch?

  • BJCP96-"Tech - before your comment was deleted you said for yourself they were racist comments. Is white supremacists such a stretch?"

BJCP96, you made me laugh. It didn't take you but a few minutes to make the connection between racism/supremacists and being white.

It never gets old, does it...

-- Posted by Prince of Stardust Hills on Fri, Sep 24, 2021, at 9:35 PM
  • Prince - I want so badly to understand what you are trying to say but I can't. I have read and reread it many times.

The term white supremacists does imply being white, yes, that's correct. Hence, the white part of the term white supremacists.

  • @BJCP yes, saying something is racist is far from calling someone a white supremacist. Many black people are racist and I would never call them white supremacists. Hardly any white people even qualify as white supremacists. It’s a vastly overused term and most people who use it can safely be dismissed as ridiculous.

Prince - LoL... it doesn't matter if you show them actual government statistics (of which yours is only one), they will just say that the statistics are racist. If a black person tells them this, it's racist!

Racist/racism. It's a ward. Their protective sign against "evil" facts, a la gypsy magic.(Can you say "gypsy" anymore? Or is that racist too?)

After it's invoked you may as well walk away. You can't reach them there.

    They are protected.

    LOL

  • Good Dig Prince.

My only concern would be that given that this is from the DOJ these stats could be fudged down and actually be worse than what they say here. Just read today that 2020 murder rate was higher year to year. Thugs are thugs, if left unchallenged it will get worse.

BLM/antfa burning down police stations, the jihad squad promotes defund the police, what should we expect?

    Not suprised.

  • This entire discussion reminds me of the quip by the famous socialist/liberal/Democrat Joe Biden at the Iowa State Fair in 2019 concerning the socialist need to believe in the truth, not the facts.

    Circle you wagons around that.

-- Posted by Prince of Stardust Hills on Tue, Sep 28, 2021, at 7:23 AM
  • Direstraits, you forgot to add to your list the mob attacking Law Enforcement Officers on January 6 at the US Capital.

-- Posted by Koios on Tue, Sep 28, 2021, at 9:16 AM
  • January 6th was a golden opportunity for Joe Biden, but instead of making the moment his, he turned it into an adversarial event and, again, handed another opportunity to his shortsighted lackeys who guaranteed another defeat on his already distinguished list of failures.

Joe Biden is as clumsy as he is foolish.

He need not be. He needs new management with foresight and leadership skills. It is not too late for him to establish a legacy of which he can be proud. January 6th was symptomatic of a greater evil he has/had the power to cure/end, if he only had the fortitude to reach beyond his current group of self-centered and unfocused advisors. Joe Biden could be a great leader, but he needs to break away.

-- Posted by beg on Tue, Sep 28, 2021, at 3:19 PM
  • RSOTS! Always good for a laugh!

Guess what, RSOTS, you can have your clumsy president, who by the way, was called a liar by his own generals today during congressional hearings.

In addition, you can have the fiasco on the border, the disaster in Afghanistan, the destruction of our energy independence, massive overspending on useless and ridiculous titles, growing inflation, a giant disruption of commerce and the movement of simple commodities, failure to hold China responsible for anything while still talking tough, the alienation of our allies, and his failures concerning Iran.

I could go on, but I don't have the time to explain how Mister Biden could make an almost immediate turnaround and accomplish a great deal of good while at the same time remaining loveable UNCLE JOE and a dutiful socialist, liberal, Democrat.

Still, an impressive list of failures, disasters, and mistakes for only nine months on the job.

RSOTS, the only way we will solve our differences is to discuss them at MacDonald's someday. I'll let you buy. Remember, I eat slowly, but a lot.

POSH - MacDonald's would be great as long as we can set in the special booth that has the impenetrable 5G resistant invisible bubble shield. My cousin said on facebook that the 5G is of the devil and I trust his sources (he did his own research).

    #NSLLPSLLEO

-- Posted by RSOTS on Tue, Sep 28, 2021, at 4:17 PM
  • RSOTS-I concur! Independent research on my part indicates that 5G may very well be the work of the devil, who, if my sources are correct, is a card-carrying member of the Democratic Party! We must be careful.

Another point. I don't want you to think that I have anything against President BIDEN. While I've never been accused of plagiarism, lying, cheating in an academic environment, blaming GOD for my misfortune, espoused racist principles, sought at least five draft deferments, or blamed for a lack of leadership, I did graduate near the bottom of my class and have been called an idiot, useless, forgetful, and aimless by others, so I do have something in common with President Biden.

In addition, I got hairy legs that turn blonde in the sun.

Plus if you actually look at that site and click on the authors own screen shot it shows 39%, not 55. It takes about 1 minute and elementary math skills to see how they are trying to manipulate the data to further their conspiracy theory.

  • RSOTS! Don't you remember 2019? The Iowa State Fair and the words of Joe Biden? Here, as long as you are discussing which side of the argument has a problem with the facts, I'll repeat my leaders glorious words concerning facts.

The exact quote from Joe Biden, "We chose truth over facts!"

A video, if that will help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbCc1XZ0bQY

How do you socialist/liberals/Democrats separate the two?

-- Posted by Prince of Stardust Hills on Tue, Sep 28, 2021, at 9:36 PM
  • Ron Unz is a Holocaust denier. We can stop there, if you are reasonable and willing to. Otherwise keep buying into the lies you are being fed, and by the way, those lies are from both sides of the aisle. It just depends on what misinformation you are willing to digest and either spit out or regurgitate, and let propagate.

Oh Posh. That reeks of desperation. Trying to turn a gaffe into a belief. You know what he meant to say, and yes a person that has struggled with a speech impediment will confuse words / misspeak here and there. Go get a Big Mac as you're not yourself when you're hungry

    #NSLLPBLAHBLAHBLAH

-- Posted by RSOTS on Tue, Sep 28, 2021, at 9:57 PM
  • RSOTS-You have your opinion, but I refuse to believe it was a gaffe because it seems to be exactly the kind of thing a socialist/liberal/Democrat would say.

Besides, there are just too many gaffes to believe that anyone could have ever ascended to the presidency and be that dumb or confused. Something's up. What is it, RSOTS? You're an insider. What's the secret? Conspiracy buffs all over Cloverdale want to know.

And by the way, I do NOT know what BIDEN meant to say. I don't think anyone knows what BIDEN meant or means to say. I don't even think BIDEN knows what he is going to say.

Big Mac? The mere thought makes me hungry!

-- Posted by Prince of Stardust Hills on Tue, Sep 28, 2021, at 10:25 PM
  • Vegan Big Mac organically raised in a sustainable way!

-- Posted by beg on Wed, Sep 29, 2021, at 3:01 PM
  • An evil has been turned loose on America. I've been listening to the hearings the last few days. I'm so disgusted with America's current leadership, and I don't blame BIDEN. That clumsy old fool is being used, and he's too stupid to understand it.

Indeed, it's just impossible for one man, who incidentally bragged about his foreign policy experience and ability, to make so many mistakes. No wonder Afghanistan has become one giant disaster after another and one lie after another. It's shameful.

If I had my way, I'd invite Joe Biden to my favorite MacDonald's and help him start his life over with a double cheeseburger and large order of fries, and for dessert, we would order a BIG MAC, which, I now understand, is under consideration by leading nutritionists as foundational in the food pyramid.
