• At 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, Heather N. Hall, 26, Gosport, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2006 Buick Rendezvous when she hit a deer.

Heavy front-end damage caused the airbags to deploy, so the vehicle was towed.

Deputy Daniel Birt estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 6:28 a.m. on Sunday, Ashley R. Robertson, 35, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 700 South in a 2010 GMC Yukon when she hit a deer.

• At 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Lexie R. Claycomb, 19, Roachdale, was westbound on State Road 236 in a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu when she hit a deer.

•At 6:20 p.m. on Friday, Madison R. Jackson, 28, Brazil, was eastbound on State Road 42 in a 2002 Ford Escort.

Jackson told Deputy Birt she eased off the gas to slow the vehicle for a 90-degree turn, when the front passenger wheel pulled the vehicle off the roadway, possible dropping off the road. At this point, the car ran into a utility pole on the east side of the road.

The crash pulled the guy wire from the ground and peeled parts from the vehicle, including the headlights, grille and passenger front fender.

Birt estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 4:09 p.m. on Friday, Thomas R. Crafton, 56, Cloverdale, was attempting to turn east on State Road 42 from County Road 775 East in a 2019 Toyota RAV4.

Crafton told Cpl. Ducker he did not see anything coming and pulled into the intersection. However, he pulled into the path of Lewis D. Hunter, 46, Spencer, who was westbound in a 2011 Cadillac CTS.

To avoid the collision, Hunter swerved and ran off the south side of the road, striking a sign pole. The impact damaged the driver’s side and caused airbag deployment.

Crafton’s vehicle was not damaged.

Lewis’s vehicle was towed. Ducker estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 5:11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 20, Cameron N. Dugger, 20, Indianapolis, was eastbound on State Road 42 approaching the Mill Creek bridge in a 2021 Volkswagen Jetta when he hit a tree that had fallen and was lying across the road.

The vehicle had to be pulled off the tree by Seniour’s Towing, but was then driven from the scene.

Cpl. Ducker estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 2:12 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, Donald G. Bishop Jr., 36, Fillmore was driving northbound on Heritage Drive at a high rate of speed in a 2016 Chrysler 300.

The vehicle crossed the center line and oncoming lane before leaving the opposite side of the road. The car entered the ditch and then jumped the roadway at Dorchester Court and landed into a power pole.

Upon Deputy Birt’s arrival, the Floyd Township Fire Department and Putnam County EMS had Bishop on the ground with a C-collar on his neck. He was then loaded onto a backboard and transported from the scene.

The responders said there was a strong odor of alcohol on and around Bishop.

The car was towed. Birt estimated damage at $25,000-$50,000.

Bishop was subsequently charged with misdemeanor driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.
