Pedal Putnam event slated Saturday

Thursday, September 30, 2021

With routes of 12, 40 and 62 miles available, the Pedal Putnam event is set for Saturday, Oct. 2 in Putnam County.

The event will take place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and be headquartered at Big Walnut Sports Park.

The event will be chip-timed and with the three routes, designed for families and cyclists of all abilities to enjoy Putnam County’s covered bridges, waterfalls, public art and countryside.

Roads will be marked noting every turn, fully stocked SAG (support and gear) stops await riders on each route and all participants will receive a custom softstyle event T-shirt.

Riders are also invited to stick around after the ride for music, food and drink, vendors, local shopping and an awards presentation to the top three finishers in each age group.

The routes will all largely avoid the use of state highways (except for limited use of State Road 240), instead focusing on county roads and the streets of Greencastle and Bainbridge.

The event is presented by Elevate Endurance Putnam County Convention and Visitors Bureau and WTHI-TV.
