County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 11:11 p.m. Kenneth R. Baird, 57, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for probation violation.

• At 10:21 p.m. Carole M. Anderson, 44, Poland, was taken into custody on a warrant for possession of methamphetamine.

• At 5:32 p.m. Samuel M. Cole, 47, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on a warrant for domestic battery and strangulation.

• At 12:21 p.m. Tremaine F. Tatum, 28, Indianapolis, was booked in on a warrant for trafficking with an inmate.

• At 12:05 p.m. Jason E. Collier, 52, Centerpoint, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 3:48 a.m. Johnny R. Corder, 29, Spencer, was taken into custody on a warrant for criminal mischief.

City Police

A recent minor property-damage accident resulted only in an exchange of information between drivers but three citations for one of the drivers, Greencastle City Police reported.

• At 5:25 p.m. Oct. 5, the two-vehicle mishap occurred at Percy Julian Drive and Veterans Memorial Highway, involving Steve Pritchard, 49, Greencastle, driving a 2002 Ford truck, and Jose Rosas, 49, Cloverdale, driving a 2020 Nissan, owned by Hertz Rental Corp.

Pritchard, whose truck was impounded, was ticketed for false and fictitious registration, failure to provide financial responsibility and operating a motor vehicle while never licensed.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 6:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Donna L. Tippin, 72, Roachdale, was eastbound on U.S. 36 in a 2018 Chrysler 300. Lyndsey B. Miller, 17, Greencastle, was behind her in a 2006 Scion XA.

As Tippin was slowing in front of the Bainbridge Cemetery, Miller was looking down and when she looked up, she could not get stopped on the wet roadway, rear-ending Tippin’s vehicle.

Reserve Deputy Ken Rozelle estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000. Miller’s vehicle was towed.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to one recent incident:

• At 12:05 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:10 and were unable to gain access to rooms near the activated smoke detector. There was no smoke or heat and the alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 12:19 a.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed five medical assists and had one disregard.
