Opal Elizabeth Arnold

Opal Elizabeth Arnold, 82, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021.

Born Dec. 15, 1938 in Odon, she was the daughter of Homer Ray and Bertha Elizabeth (Arthur) Malone.

She was a graduate of Odon High School with the class of 1956.

Opal retired from Walmart, where she had worked for 23 years. She had previously retired from Clay County Rural Telephone, where she had worked for 26 years.

She was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge. Opal was an avid gardener, enjoyed line dancing and calling bingo.

Opal is survived by her daughters, Ronetta (Steve) Carroll, Joetta (Mike) Kirkman and Shelley (Tom) Bradley; siblings Jim (Linda) Malone, Bob (Sharon) Malone, Herschel (Kay) Malone, Grace Cornelius, Ruth (Ralph) Hart and Barb (Junior) Fish; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer K. Watson; her parents; and siblings Audrey Finn, Edna Chestnut and David Malone.

A celebration of life will be held for Opal at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
