West Central Solid Waste District (WCSWD) is sponsoring an electronics recycling day from 8 a.m.-noon at Greencastle Middle School, 400 Percy L. Julian Dr.

Electronic waste, or e-waste, often contains hazardous materials like lead and mercury. It is illegal to knowingly throw away e-waste such as computers, printers, cellphones and televisions in the trash, as they are banned from landfills.

Putnam and Parke County residents may drop off electronics free of charge for recycling and safe disposal without having to leave their vehicle. The exception is a $20 fee for each television of any size, and businesses and large-quantity generators are prohibited.
