Have you been missing the Arts?

Music, sculptures, paintings, one-act plays, multiple-act plays, Garfunkel?

Yes, COVID-19 has made for some bleak days, but the Greencastle Arts Council has the solution.

Come and celebrate all the arts with a festive evening of live music, food, poetry, visual art and more at Putnam County’s Tiger Pointe Country Club on Friday, Nov. 5 from 6-8:30 p.m.

For your enjoyment, the GAC’s Third Annual Bonne Soirée will include a retrospective exhibition of five works by artist William Meehan, live music by the Steve Snyder Trio, a selection of readings from the GAC’s inaugural creative writing contest and an auction conducted by Garry Wolfe — Eric Wolfe’s father.

The auction will include one-of-a-kind pieces donated by local artists, with 60 percent of the winning bids going to the artists themselves and 40 percent to help support the mission of the GAC.

In addition, Gail Smith and Almost Home will be providing hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar will be available.

The Arts Council is dedicated to deepening pride of place in Putnam County through recognizing and supporting local art and artists. A frequent community collaborator, GAC partners regularly with the Civic League, Putnam County Public Library, Comprehensive Services, CVB, Main Street Greencastle and Putnam County Museum.

Recent GAC projects include the Putnam County Adult Visual Arts Exhibition, the Middle School Banner Contest, Covid Art Kits for Kids, Winter Creative Writing Competition and Putnam County Festival Choir.

Tickets for the November event are $25 for a single ticket or $40 for two. Visit https://www.greencastleartscouncil.org or send a check made payable to the Greencastle Arts Council to P.O. Box 631, Greencastle, IN, 46135, by Friday, Oct. 29.

Questions may be directed to Lynne Tweedie at 720-8058 or lynne_tweedie@hotmail.com.

The GAC thanks Eric Wolfe and Prime Real Estate Group for exclusive sponsorship of the 2021 Bonne Soirée and hopes that the public takes this opportunity to contribute to the thriving arts presence in Putnam County.
