REELSVILLE — The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page had a bit of fun at the expense of two area men arrested earlier this week.

On Wednesday, Sgt. Anthony Brown was investigating a call of a suspicious vehicle sitting on the side of the road near Reelsville.

Although no one was around the vehicle initially, as Brown investigated he noticed a small pickup truck approaching.

Upon seeing Brown and his squad car, the driver hit the brakes and rapidly performed a U-turn.

Brown then caught up with the vehicle and attempted to make a suspicious vehicle stop.

“Apparently the driver didn’t feel like stopping and continued on at a high rate of speed,” the Facebook post noted.

The chase, however, continued only a few minutes, as the driver pulled into his own driveway and stopped with Brown right behind him.

At this point, PCSO public information officer Cpl. Scott Ducker couldn’t help but compare the incident to a game of tag.

“Just a quick pro-tip here, home base only works in the game of tag,” Ducker wrote, “not when running at a high rate of speed from the police.”

Both men in the vehicle soon found themselves lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Driver Tracey W. Burk, 52, Reelsville, was booked in at 3:30 p.m. for resisting law enforcement with a vehicle.

Passenger Anthony L. Smith, 31, Brazil, also found himself in legal trouble.

The vehicle from the original investigation, which had been in his possession, was found to have license plate reported stolen out of Clay County. He was also discovered to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Smith was booked in at 4 p.m. for possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine..
