County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Tuesday

• At 11:24 a.m. Lana L. Morrell, 51, Clay City, was lodged at the jail for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 6:06 a.m. Nicholas L. Canfield, 41, Cloverdale, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Monday

• At 10:27 p.m. Mindy S. Whitehead, 42, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for theft and conspiracy to commit theft.

• At 9:05 p.m. Jacob N. Scobee, 23, Roachdale, was booked in for possession of marijuana.

• At 11:37 a.m. Matthew P. Brackin, 36, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for auto theft.

• At 10:28 a.m. Matthew A. Linde, 40, Anderson, was taken into custody for resisting law enforcement and public intoxication.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 5:55 a.m. on Saturday, John V. Uplinger, 53, Rockville, was eastbound on State Road 236, approaching County Road 425 East in a 2016 Ford F-150 when he hit a deer.

Uplinger told Cpl. Brian Helmer he would have a trailer brought to the scene and tow the vehicle for himself.

Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to four recent incidents:

• At 4:11 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 1216 S. Bloomington St. for a charged wire connected to a water heater. Firefighters arrived at 4:17 and advised that an electrician be contacted. GFD went back into service at 4:33 p.m.

• At 10:04 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 127 Woods Edge Blvd. for a gas leak. Firefighters arrived at 10:18 and monitored the area. CenterPoint Energy was contacted, and GFD went back into service at 11:12 a.m.

• At 12:09 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident without injuries at the intersection of Indianapolis Road and 10th Street. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 12:15 and cleaned debris from the roadway. GFD went back into service at 12:26 p.m.

• At 5:51 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 109 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 5:55 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 6:08 p.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed 11 medical assists.
