Area 30 Career Center students visited Ivy Tech Greencastle on Tuesday, Nov. 17 for Health Science Day. Students toured the practical nursing lab, practiced health care skills simulations and learned about their many health care educational options at Ivy Tech Greencastle.

During their visit, high school students learned about a seamless health care career path that begins at Area 30 Career Center and continues at Ivy Tech Greencastle.

Students can start by taking dual credit classes at Area 30 Career Center, then complete key healthcare classes at Ivy Tech Greencastle.

Students can then apply for admission to the practical nursing program, which can be completed in Greencastle, or pursue one of the nine health care programs offered in Terre Haute. Programs offered in Terre Haute include diagnostic medical sonography, healthcare specialist, medical imaging, medical assisting, medical laboratory technology, paramedic science, respiratory therapy, surgical technology or therapeutic massage.

Students must apply through a separate application process to gain admission for healthcare programs.

During their visit, students also learned about financial aid, scholarships and the ASAP program which allows students to earn an associate degree in 11 months to transfer to a bachelor’s degree program.

High school students and their families who missed Health Science Day are invited to sign up for an Ivy Tech Greencastle College Visit at ivytech.edu/visitus (Click College Visit Days). During College Visits, students can choose to learn about any program in which they are interested.
