Smoke Signals

Wednesday, November 24, 2021
With the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department battling a semi fire near the 32-mile marker of eastbound Interstate 70 Wednesday morning, an eerie sort of beauty emerges from the scene as smoke rises against the backdrop of the morning sun. No one was injured in the incident, which also brought Putnam County sheriff’s deputies, Indiana State Police and the Indiana Department of Transportation to the scene for investigation, cleanup and traffic control. All lanes of I-70 were shut down in the area following the incident, causing backups on adjacent roads as motorists found other routes.
