MAC Grant awarded to GHS class for podcasting equipment

Wednesday, November 24, 2021

Greencastle McDonald’s owner Tim Jedele recently awarded a $500 MAC Grant to CJ Shields and his technology students at Greencastle High School.

The purpose of the grant will be to purchase equipment for creating podcasts. The goal is to launch a student-run podcast to get them engaged in the community.

The Tiger Cub Pawcast, the monthly podcast of Greencastle Schools, is created to keep parents and the community informed about what is happening in the district.

Each episode is approximately 12 minutes long and features two stories about events currently occurring in GSCS schools, an update from Superintendent Jeff Gibboney and original music by GCSC alum and current DePauw student Parker Black.

Monthly episodes are available for download and listening on the first of the month. November’s episode will be the first to feature student-created content. You can find The Pawcast on the Spotify or Google Podcasts app by searching, “Tiger Cub Pawcast.” Users may also listen on any device that connects to the internet by navigating to https://tinyurl.com/TCpawcast.

MAC Grants are designed to provide educators with resources to create unique learning experiences for their students. This sentiment rings especially true this year as teachers everywhere continue to adapt to all the challenges faced in education.

In an effort to continue their commitment to local schools and communities, McDonald’s owner/operators in Indiana and southwest Michigan recently provided approximately 50 individual teachers with MAC Grants with the goal of helping build important personal career or business skills for students.

For decades, working at McDonald’s has offered restaurant employees the chance to learn transferable skills on the job such as teamwork, customer service, accountability and communication in a collaborative environment with the schedule flexibility to meet their needs.
