Lois Pearl Clark, 90, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, with her loving husband of 70 years, Marvin, at her side.

Lois was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great¬grandmother. She was born Jan. 27, 1931 in Baxter, Ky., the oldest daughter of Ralph and Georgianna (Banks) York.

She married Marvin Clark on April 10, 1951, and he survives.

Other survivors are daughter Claudia Clark; son Alan (Janice) Clark; sisters Betty Kendall and JoAnn (Paul) Pitts; granddaughters Amanda (Topher) Morris and Candace (Peter) Gaunt; and great-grandchildren Mary Cate and Cohen Morris and Evelyn and Oliver Gaunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers James York, John Lee York and Jerry York.

Lois was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greencastle, joining in 1948 when she moved with her parents and family to Greencastle from Metropolis, Ill.

She was employed as an operator with the local telephone company, then worked for a number of years as a full-time homemaker while raising her children. Later, she worked at Mary Emma Jones Elementary School, Central National Bank and DePauw University, from which she retired after 25 years of service.

In retirement, she and Marvin enjoyed traveling and, at age 79, Lois completed one of the top items on her “bucket list” by taking advantage of a chance to tandem skydive, which she repeated at age 80.

Public graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Aaron Plessinger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to First Baptist Church of Greencastle Youth Programs.
