CLOVERDALE — The Cloverdale High School Drama Club will present two one-act shows this weekend, “Bedtime Stories (As told by Dad) (Who messed them up)” and “Bestest Bedtime Stories (Told by Grandpa) (He’s so silly).”

Curtain time for the night of messed up fairy tales is 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10 and Saturday, Dec. 11 and take place on the stage at Cloverdale High School. Admission is $5 for kindergartners through adults.

In Act I, it’s Dad’s (Jacob Whittinger) turn to tell his three rambunctious kids (Timmy Hiatt, Aleah Harris and Willow Jones) their bedtime stories. But when he gets fuzzy on the details, the classics get creative — a prince with a snoring problem spices up “The Princess and the Pea.” Meanwhile, “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” actually is a girl who cries dinosaur instead and Rumpelstiltskin helps turn all that pesky gold into straw.

You may think you know your fairy tales, but not the way Dad tells them.

In Act II, Grandpa’s is a little out of practice when it comes to babysitting, but if he’s ever going to get his bouncy grandkids to go to sleep, he’s got to remember some bedtime stories fast — or at least something pretty close to them. Meet the Witch (Sierra Kelley) who lives in a house made of broccoli, the magical fairies Excedrin (Phoenix Breedlove), Lipitor (Alayna Oberkrom) and Miralax (Isabella Oberkrom) and Hans (Landyn Shaw) and Gretel (Hannah Baker).

As with Dad, the audience will certainly not know fairy tales the way Grandpa tells them.

Additional members of the cast include Dominic Knowling-Williams, Dennis Sauders, Ella Szcerbik, Emma Paauwe, Eli Wheeler and Killion Dewey. Helping out on the technical side of the show are:Peyton McKibben, Kadence Sharp, Autumn Wheeler and Jacob Simpson. The show is under the direction of Brad Sandy.
