County Jail

Several people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently

Sunday

• At 11:42 p.m. Steven L. Samora, 37, Bainbridge, was lodged at the jail for domestic battery, strangulation, driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

• At 5:54 a.m. Kevin L. Billingsley, 29, Indianapolis, was taken into custody for driving with intoxicated, driving with a suspended license and on a Boone County warrant.

Saturday

• At 5:06 p.m. Joshua K. Moore, 33, Poland, was housed at the jail for driving with a suspended license.

Friday

• At 1:37 p.m. Rebecca M. Burnham, 37, Cloverdale, was booked in on three counts of dealing in methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.

Thursday

• At 10:28 p.m. Nicholas S. Ritz, 32, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction, theft, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction.

• At 7:08 p.m. Christopher L. Pittman, 49, Fillmore, was taken into custody for intimidation.

• At 10:35 a.m. Kyle D. Kittlaus, 28, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for battery.

• At 10 a.m. Monica C. Reed, 27, Cloverdale, was booked in for battery and disorderly conduct.

Wednesday

• At 11:12 p.m. Charles Z. Atkinson, 38, Brazil, was lodged at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 10:18 p.m. David M. Maldonado, 39, Cloverdale, was taken into custody on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 6:56 p.m. Kyle D. Harrison, 36, Terre Haute, was housed at the jail for neglect of a dependent, driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction, driving with an ACE of .15 or more with a passenger less than 18 years of age and driving while intoxicated.

• At 5:29 p.m. Troy D. Kennedy, 53, Cloverdale, was booked in for dealing in cocaine, possession of marijuana, unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance by a registrant, possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction and on a local warrant.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two property-damage crashes.

• At 2:52 p.m. on Wednesday, Karley A. Lambert, 22, Monrovia, was eastbound on County Road 75 South in a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Lambert told Cpl. Brian Helmer she was taking her dog to the vet, when the dog distracted her. The vehicle left the road and hit a concrete bridge barrier and a county highway sign.

Lambert, who is 22 weeks pregnant, complained of pain in her abdomen as well as burns to her arm from the airbag. She was transported to Terre Haute Union Hospital by Putnam County EMS.

The vehicle was towed. Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 10:31 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, Michael A. Neese, 33, Fort Wayne, was northbound on Main Street (U.S. 231) in Cloverdale in a 2017 Honda Civic. Kiersten L. Wade, 17, Cloverdale, was stopped eastbound on Mill Street in a 2005 Acura TL.

Wade told Cpl. Scott Ducker she did not see Neese’s vehicle and proceeded across the street, hitting the driver’s side of the car.

Both vehicles were towed. Ducker estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to four recent incidents:

• At 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Hendershot’s Service Center for a carbon monoxide alarm. Firefighters arrived at 5:15 and detected gas at the property. The gas was shut off to the furnace and it was advised to repair it. GFD went back into service at 5:48 p.m.

• At 2:07 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for a person stuck in an elevator. Firefighters arrived at 2:10 and freed the person. Power was secured to the elevator, and GFD went back into service at 2:35 p.m.

• At 8:02 p.m. on Friday, GFD was called to 420 N. College Ave. for an illegal burn. Firefighters arrived at 8:05 and found the homeowner was burning trash and leaves. Firefighters extinguished the fire and went back into service at 8:19 p.m.

• At 5:42 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 106 S. Spring St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 5:46 and determined the alarm was due to steam from a shower. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 5:54 p.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed nine medical assists.
