nita Elaine Surber, 88, of Bainbridge, passed away on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Anita was born in Danbury, Neb., on Nov. 20, 1933, the daughter of Clarence Hilton and Katherine Anna (Farber) Keith, and was a graduate of Danbury High School in Nebraska.

Mrs. Surber attended Bainbridge United Methodist Church, and was a member of United Methodist Women.

She farmed alongside her husband and took care of her family and her home. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, sewing, and reading her Bible, but above all she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, Paul Surber, (Rena); a sister, Noreen Jumps; six grandchildren, Katie Collett, Heidi Kiger, (David), Jamie Cullison, (Donnie Schilling), Lyndsey Cullison, (Michael Sawyer) Derek Cullison, (Paige) and Destinee Surber (Tony Flores); three step-grandchildren, Courtney Stout, (Chad Bradshaw), Jackie Ramsay, (Jon), and Shawn Stout; (Kristen); seven great-grandchildren, Damon Surber, Saphira Hickman, Micah and Amarah Kiger, Wyatt Farrow, Bentley Cullison and Logan Cullison; six step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-grandchild; a son-in-law, Ernie Cullison; two brothers-in-law, Howard Kenfield and Emery Kathka; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Keith; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward John Surber; a daughter, Barbara Cullison; six sisters, Jackie Miller, LeArdis Ferichs, Glenva Kenfield, Deloris Kathka, LeVerna Peterson and Donna Keith; and four brothers, Norman, Jimmy, Richard and Gerald Keith.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Randall Boys officiating. Burial will follow in Brick Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until time of service Tuesday.
