James Daniel Spore

James Daniel Spore, 76, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021 at 12:15 p.m. at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

James was born in Carmi, Ill., on Sept. 14, 1945, the son of Floyd V. and Ruth (Roberts) Spore, and was a graduate of Bruceville High School.

He married his wife Donna Jo Spore on June 13, 1970.

Mr. Spore was a member of the Knightsville Church of Christ. He was also a member of Bicknell Masonic Lodge No. 94, the AOPA and a former member of Civil Air Patrol. James was on the Putnam County CERT Team, was president of the Board at Putnam County Airport and an active pilot.

He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Nevemar Corp. for many years and was the manager of Fort Meade Flying Club until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years; two sons, James J. Spore (Jessica) and Daniel S. Spore (Kira German); two brothers, Jack Spore (Brenda) and Jerry Spore (Tonya); a sister, Jeanne Byrer; two grandchildren, Mason S. Spore and Addisyn Bruce; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Norvell, Odel and Willard Butler; and two sisters, Vonda Adams and Norma Cates.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Dispennett officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until time of service on Sunday. A cremation will take place at a later date.
