Congressman Jim Baird announces re-election campaign
Greencastle Republican Jim Baird has filed re-election paperwork for Indiana’s 4h Congressional District seat.
“Serving on behalf of Hoosiers in the 4th Congressional District is an honor and a privilege that I will always take seriously,” Baird said in beginning the quest for a third term. “Far too much is at stake for the future of our children and grandchildren. Each day I take measure of the consequences Democrat-led policies have on our country, and the truth is socialism is being normalized.
“As I’ve said time and again,” Baird added, “ I love this country and I am dedicated to protecting our principles of freedom and liberty. With your support I hope to continue defending the values we hold dear.”
Baird, who serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, is a lifelong resident of west-central Indiana, where he has raised a family, started a business and served his community.
Prior to being elected to Congress in 2018, Baird also served as District 44 state representative and on the local level was a Putnam County commissioner and local ag agent.
“I’ve known Jim since he was a state representative, and he’s always been humble and down to earth,” 4th District Republican Chairman Randy Head said. “It’s wonderful to be able to say that Congress hasn’t changed him one bit. Jim Baird takes common sense and real-world experience to a government that desperately needs it, and I’m proud that he’s my Congressman.”
Over the past three years, Baird has worked closely with fellow conservative colleagues in Congress and at home to hold the line against the ever-growing federal overreach into our daily lives, he said.
President Pro Tempore State Sen. Rod Bray (R-Martinsville) said, “Jim Baird is a thoughtful conservative voice. A man of character and conviction that I am proud to call a friend. His record in Congress reflects the values of Hoosiers in the 4th Congressional District and I’m glad to support his continued service to our state and country.”
Benton County GOP Chairman Bruce Buchanan echoed that sentiment.
“I am most proud to have Congressman Jim Baird represent me and my fellow Benton Countians,” Buchanan said. “He is as fine a congressman as I have known. “
Indiana’s 4th District encompasses 16 counties, including all of Putnam County, as well as Hendricks, Morgan, Montgomery, Boone, Clinton, Tippecanoe, Carroll, White, Benton, Jasper, Newton, Warren and parts of Fountain, Cass and Howard counties.
