Learn about history of local agriculture at SWCD/Extension joint annual meeting

The Putnam County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) and Purdue Extension in Putnam County is inviting the public to learn about the history of agriculture in Putnam County during their their upcoming joint annual dinner.

On Thursday, Jan. 27, Fred Whitford, professor of clinical engagement at Purdue University, will share an entertaining and informative program on the early history of agriculture in Putnam County.

Whitford has authored many books, including “Enriching the Hoosier Farm Family.” The program will recognize the contributions of thousands of individuals who have contributed their talents to the betterment of agriculture in rural Indiana.

Doors for the event will open at 5:30 p.m. with the dinner starting at 6 p.m. The event will take place in the York Auto Family Community Building at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

Tickets for the event are available for $5 until Jan. 20 at the Putnam County SWCD Office or the Purdue Extension Office.

Besides Whitford’s program, the Jan. 27 event will recognize the accomplishments of both the SWCD and Extension over the last year.
