Carmel, Center Grove turned away by HCC
In a vote taken Thursday by the principals of the schools represented by the Hoosier Crossroads Conference, Carmel High School and Center Grove High School were denied entry into the HCC.
The conference, made up of member schools Avon, Brownsburg, Franklin Central, Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern, Noblesville, Westfield and Zionsville, voted to remain an eight-team conference a month after Carmel and Center Grove were voted out of the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference (MIC) by the remaining six schools in December.
In a statement, the HCC said it was ‘Honored by the Carmel Greyhounds’ and Center Grove Trojans’ request and look forward to maintaining positive relationships with them in the future. As the HCC, we are committed to our partner schools and stand unified in the decision.’
Both Carmel and Center Grove released statements stating they would move to forward as independents starting in the spring of this year while honoring the contracts with the remaining MIC schools through the end of the 2022-23 school year.
