Oran Rubeck

Oran Rubeck, 101, went to be with the Lord Jan. 13, 2022 at Mill Pond Health Campus.

He was born in Owen County on Nov. 4, 1920 to Albert Edward Rubeck and Nora Alice (Hunsicker) Rubeck.

He went to Jordan Village School and graduated from Cloverdale High School.

On Oct. 1, 1940, he was united in marriage to Mary Anne Mikolaitis. She preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2017.

Oran was a Jackson Township trustee and was a member of the Jackson Township Advisory Board and the Cloverdale School Board. He was serving on the board when the elementary building was built.

Oran and Mary were owners of Rubeck Sawmill for many years. Oran’s father started the sawmill in 1927. Oran would go with his father Albert into the woods and camp while they cut the trees for the mill.

Oran’s hobbies were traveling in the RV and camping with their camping group, many of whom have already passed on. Oran loved visiting with family and friends. Oran loved to relax while reading Westerns.

Oran is survived by two sons, Ronald Rubeck and Jerry Rubeck; one daughter, Sharon (Joe) Swank; seven grandchildren, Rhonda (Bobby) Tincher, Tonnie (Debby) Rubeck, Kevin Rubeck, Scott (Carol) Swank, Elaine (Jason) Bain, Matthew (Sarah) Swank, Sabrina (Aaron) Wilson and Franie (Greg) Arnold; 12 great-grandchildren, Mickey (Crystal) Tincher, Hannah (Jim) Shrum, Trent Tincher, Wayne (Brittany) Rubeck, Daphne (Mark) Rutenberg, Alesha (Zack) Crouse, JayAnn and Aubree Youngblood, Christian Wilson and Michaela, Issak and Madeline Bain; great-great-grandchildren June and Silas Shrum, Everly and Amelia Tincher, Lucas Siebers, Austin, Erin and Brady Rubeck, Peyton and Deborah Daniels, Asher, Tiras and Zoey Rutenberg and Wesley and Eleanor Swank; And baby Crouse, due in April.

Oran was preceded in death by his parents; spouse Mary Rubeck; daughter-in-law Evelyn Rubeck; brothers Clifford, Roy and George Rubeck; and sisters Mildred Hoffa, Marie Bullerdick and Martha Fritzinger.

A memorial service for Oran will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Zion United Church of Christ in Poland. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service time of 2 p.m.
