Motorist injured in single-vehicle crash Saturday
A Greencastle woman was injured in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 231 near the viaduct just north of the city Saturday afternoon.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County EMS and the Greencastle Fire Department were dispatched to the incident, which occurred across from County Road 25 South, at about 1:30 p.m.
It has been determined that Tiffany Allen, 32, Greencastle, was traveling northbound when, according to a witness, her vehicle suddenly veered sideways and crashed into a tree.
Injuries were initially reported as being unknown at the time of the dispatch. However, firefighters had to extricate Allen.
Cpl. Scott Ducker said that based on the damage and the witness’s statements, Allen’s speed being too fast for road conditions was a likely factor in the incident.
Though the exact nature of her injuries is still unknown, Allen was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
The sheriff’s office, as well as a Good Samaritan initially, conducted traffic control. Meanwhile, Seniour’s Towing retrieved the vehicle.
