Make someone’s heart go pitter patter via park project

Wednesday, January 19, 2022

The Greencastle Park and Recreation Department is looking for your help again this Valentine’s Day.

The park is looking for valentines no bigger than 8.5 x 11 inches. They can be any shape, design or style they can have words, sayings or uplifting quotes.

The goal again is to lift the spirits of those family members in assisted living, nursing homes and the hospital on Valentine’s Day.

With Girl Scout troops, women’s group, school classrooms, church groups and individuals responding last year, 2,176 cards (the majority handmade), 11 stuffed animals, 12 hand-knitted hats, 20 coffee mugs and more were distributed.

There were enough items last year that each nursing home resident was given four valentines.

“It just blows me away how creative people got,” Park Assistant Director Chrysta Snellenberger praised.

Persons who would like to donate may contact Snellenberger at 653-3395.

I have no idea what this has to do with the parks department, but I like it as a community project!

    Kudos to you, Chrysta.
