County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 6:25 p.m. Michael L. Frazee Jr., 63, Fillmore, was taken into custody for neglect of a dependent and driving with a suspended license.

• At 1:45 p.m. Nikaria R. Jennings, 20, Crawfordsville, was housed at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 2:52 a.m. Amber N. Coffman-Wallace, 32, Quincy, was booked in for probation violation.

Tuesday

• At 3:56 p.m. Cyle A. Duncan, 37, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a writ.

• At 3:52 p.m. Donald L. Shoemaker, 50, Roachdale, was housed at the jail on a writ.

• At 1:56 a.m. James L. Jones, 30, Greencastle, was booked in for driving while intoxicated.

• At 12:11 a.m. Jack W. Jones, 40, Martinsville, was lodged at the jail for criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement, reckless driving, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 9:12 p.m. Wednesday, Payton A. Manley, 21, Mooresville, was arrested by Officer Alec Pettit.

Taken into custody at State Road 240 and Capital Drive, Manley was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a Parke County warrant for failure to appear in court on an initial charge of criminal trespass.

• At 11:03 p.m. Tuesday, Trey W. Price, 24, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Angela Taylor after turning himself in at the GPD station.

Price was lodged at the jail on a Putnam County warrant for domestic battery.

• At 12:30 p.m. Monday, Raymond Gray, 29, Poland, was arrested by Officer Jared McDaniel.

Stopped at Arlington Street and Tacoma Drive, Gray was arrested on a Putnam County warrant for domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16.

Two recent citations were issued by city officers:

• At 7:46 a.m. Tuesday, Jacob Dean, 34, Brazil, was cited by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Stopped on Berry Street, Dean was issued a summons for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

• At 9:58 a.m. Tuesday, Ada Stapert, 29, Greencastle, was ticketed for speeding by Reserve Officer David Clodfelter.

Stopped on Manhattan Road, Stapert was cited for 49 mph in a 30-mph zone.

Two recent traffic accidents were reported by city officers:

• At 1:39 p.m. Tuesday, a two-vehicle accident was reported on Indianapolis Road.

Officer DeWitt reported that Marian Cordray, 78, Greencastle, was eastbound, driving a 2017 Ford Escape, when Dalton Kisner, 21, Bainbridge, reportedly pulled out of the Marathon station in a 2007 Toyota Corolla, which struck the Cordray vehicle in the driver’s side door.

Total damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

Cordray and a passenger in her vehicle were transported to Putnam County Hospital with back pain, while Kisner and his passenger declined treatment at the scene.

• At 1:50 p.m. Sunday, a two-car accident was reported at South Madison and West Walnut streets on the city’s West Side.

Sgt. Ed Wilson reported that Jacob Hendren, 39, Indianapolis, was eastbound on Walnut Street, driving a 2016 Mazda 6, when Bryan Lomax, 18, Indianapolis, was crossing Walnut Street on Madison Street in a 2008 Toyota Camry and failed to see the other car.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

Greencastle firefighters responded to several recent dispatches:

• At 6:58 p.m. on Monday, GFD was called to 522 Indiana St. for an odor investigation. Upon arrival at 7 p.m., crews found the odor was due to cleaning product. They left the scene at 7:10 p.m.

• At 7:10 p.m. on Monday, crews were called to another odor investigation, this one at Cricket Wireless, 33 Putnam Plaza. Upon arrival at 7:15 p.m., firefighters found no problem and were back in services at 7:33 p.m.

• At 12:37 p.m. on Wednesday, firefighters responded to a fire alarm at 11 N. Indiana Street. Arriving at 12:42 p.m., they learned that it had been an unintentional activation. Crews left the scene at 12:47 p.m.

• At 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was called to 1750 Indianapolis Road for an animal rescue. They arrived at 7:21 p.m. to learn of a cat stuck under a car. The animal eventually came out from under a vehicle, only to run under another, where they were unable to locate it. Firefighters left the scene at 7:43 p.m.

Firefighters also responded to six medical runs, were disregarded once en route and found no incident upon arrival at another location.
