Doris Evelyn Stoelting

Doris Evelyn Stoelting, 92, of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022 at Asbury Towers Retirement Community.

Doris was born in Sullivan on Nov. 18, 1929 the daughter of Alvin and Adnie (Randsford) Jewell.

She was a 1947 graduate of Hymera High School in Sullivan. She received her nursing license from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in 1951.

Mrs. Stoelting married the love of her life, Robert Charles Stoelting, on March 12, 1950. She worked as an office nurse for Dr. Haggerty and Dr. Johnson, and also worked at Putnam County Hospital. She was a nurse at IBM as well, retiring from nursing in 1992.

Doris was a member of the Washburn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Putnam County Museum and Greencastle Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her two children, Mark Stoelting and Carol Stoelting, three nieces and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 69-1/2 years, Robert; an infant brother; two brothers, Max Jewell and Keith Jewell; a sister, Lois Jewell-Kirtley; a nephew, Arthur Jewell; and a great-nephew, Eugene LePage.

Service will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Greencastle Presbyterian Church with Pastor Wes Kendall officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16 at Bethel Cemetery in Freelandville.
