A Greencastle High School sophomore has been chosen for a high honor by the Indiana Bandmasters Association.

Trombonist Campbell Benedix, a member of the GHS band, directed by Annette Muñoz, has been selected to participate in the 62nd-annual Indiana All-State High School Band Festival sponsored by the IBA.

Benedix earned this honor by participating in a highly-competitive audtion held early in January at nine centers throughout the state. In all, 600 talented young musicians applied to audition. A selection committee then reviewed recordings from each center.

Benedix is among 170 students from 54 high schools who have been selection for participation in the 2022 festival.

Dennis Llinás, director of bands and associate professor of conducting at the University of Oregon, will direct the Indiana All-State Band. Timothy Rhea, director of bands and music activities at Texas A&M University, will direct the Indiana All-State Honor Band.

All members will participate in a series of activities including seating auditions, sectionals and full rehearsals from Friday, March 11 through Sunday, March 13.

A free grand finale concert will be presented to the public at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 13 in the Elliott Hall of Music on the Purdue University campus in West Lafayette.
