Greencastle’s swim teams, along with Cloverdale swimmer Carson Hall, recently held a Paddle for Pups fundraiser that benefited the Putnam County Humane Society. Organized by sophomore Sophie Riggle, the Tiger Sharks raised $900, split evenly between the Humane Society and the team. “For the swim team, we always have things we can get to help our performance, like special caps, parkas, etc.,” Riggle said. “For the Humane Society, with COVID and it being winter, it struggles a little bit and we wanted to put our money towards a local charity. “We presented the check on Jan. 29 (pictured) but we had been fundraising for about three weeks before that. It was straight donations; it was different than what we’ve done in the past, taking an envelope home and accepting cash or check donations.” Riggle credited seniors Olivia Headley and Caroline Sullivan for helping get the fundraiser going as well as members of both teams for their contributions to the fundraiser. “I’m really proud of it,” Riggle said. “We have a really small team this year, so raising $900 was really impressive. “It’s also a great starting for my next few years here to see what else we can do.”
