County Jail

Ten people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 1:59 a.m. Dustin L. Clark, 35, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine.

Wednesday

• At 1:34 p.m. Zachary S. Hayman, 57, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for criminal trespass.

• At 11:20 a.m. Timothy J. Sipes, 65, Liberty Park, Pa., was booked in for reckless driving.

Tuesday

• At 3:52 p.m. Matthew L. Kuchler, 51, Fillmore, was lodged at the jail for invasion of privacy and trespassing.

• At 2:04 p.m. Terrie J. Crabtree, 56, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for probation violation.

• At 11:51 a.m. Tonya L. Sage, 55, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine.

• At 10:40 a.m. Charity J. Weaver, 43, Poland, was booked in on a writ of body attachment.

• At 8:30 a.m. Levi D. Briggs, 25, Avon, was lodged at the jail for false informing.

• At 8:16 a.m. Robert L. Jones, 43, Greencastle, was taken into custody for failure to appear.

Monday

• At 8:40 a.m. Ronnie L. Hensley II, 42, Avon, was housed at the jail for dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 6:10 p.m. Feb. 11, Tonja Norris, 52, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Darrel Bunten.

Taken into custody at the Dollar General Store on North Jackson Street, Norris was arrested and lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a Putnam County warrant for violation of probation/petition to revoke on an original charge of breaking and entering.

One recent citation was issued by GPD officers:

-- At 4:16 p.m. Tuesday, Krista Mullinnix, 31, Plainfield, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road west of Kentwood Drive, Mullinnix was cited for operating with an expired license plate (Aug. 14, 2021).

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Maricela Noyola, 40, Indianapolis, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2015 Nissan Altima when she ran off the west side of the road.

Noyola told Deputy Todd Hopkins she then overcorrected, crossing over to the east side of the road, where the vehicle hit an embankment and came to rest in the ditch.

The vehicle was towed. Hopkins estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

Noyola was cited for driving with a suspended license.

• At 6:39 a.m. on Sunday, Alisha E. Bell, 23, Roachdale, was traveling on County Road 750 West in a 2006 Chevrolet Impala.

Bell told Deputy Josh Deal she met another vehicle that came close to her lane of travel. At this point, she hit snow and a patch of ice and left the road. The car then hit deeper snow, which caused it to roll over and come to rest on its top in a field.

Bell had gotten out of the car upon Deal’s arrival. She complained of shoulder and head pain and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Deal estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000. The car was towed.

• At 11:51 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, Erica L. Pearl, 17, Greencastle, westbound on County Road 350 North in a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta when she hit a deer.

Deputy Deal estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to 10 incidents recently:

• At 3:23 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched for a structure fire at 1637 N. U.S. 231. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 3:32 and found that the fire had already been extinguished by the homeowners. It was determined that a wall outlet had caught fire, but the damage was limited to one side of the home. No extensions were found, and GFD went back into service at 4:02 p.m.

• At 8:11 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a vehicle fire at 5627 S. CR 625 West. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 8:22 and assisted the Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department with extinguishing the fire. GFD went back into service at 9:05 a.m.

• At 1:02 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD received a direct call for a possible illegal burn at 718 E. Seminary St. Firefighters arrived soon after and found an unattended fire burning construction debris. The homeowner was advised of the city burn ordinance and the fire was extinguished.

• At 1:52 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 109 W. Hanna St. on the DePauw University campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:56 and found smoke on the second floor. They located and extinguished a small fire in a bathroom ventilation fan. The building was ventilated and power to it was turned off. GFD went back into service at 2:24 p.m.

• At 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a two-vehicle incident with injuries at Ascena Retail. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 2:28 and assisted with patient care and cleaned up debris. GFD went back into service at 3:03 p.m.

• At 8:48 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 11 N. Indiana St. for a furnace issue. Firefighters arrived at 8:53 and determined that the furnace was not working properly. Power to the furnace was isolated and GFD went back into service at 9:08 p.m.

• At 1:28 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 1021 Indianapolis Rd. for an alarm malfunction. Firefighters arrived at 1:32 and found that the alarm was beeping due to a power outage. GFD went back into service at 1:48 p.m.

• At 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 304 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:17 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 4:23 p.m.

• At 1:34 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 620 Anderson St. for a gas odor. Firefighters arrived at 1:36 and did not find any source for said odor. GFD went back into service at 1:56 p.m.

• At 3:27 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to the area of 899 N. CR 25 North for a tree in the roadway. Firefighters found the tree at 3:35 and cut it and removed it from the roadway. GFD went back into service at 3:45 a.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed three medical assists and had two disregards.
