County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 8:16 p.m. Sharyl J. Peck, 53, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 3:16 a.m. Kelly L. Jurca, 45, Ladoga, was taken into custody for battery.

Saturday

•At 1:55 a.m. Roger D. Reed, 28, Freedom, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

Friday

• At 4:51 p.m. Misty D. Lalumendier, 42, Terre Haute, was booked in for theft and forgery.

• At 11:20 a.m. Isach M. Osborn, 18, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a warrant.

Thursday

• At 2:45 p.m. Alexis D. Burk, 24, Reelsville, was lodged at the jail for dealing in altered property.

• At 11:17 a.m. Nicholas S. Ritz, 32, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 1:59 a.m. Dustin L. Clark, 35, Cloverdale, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies recently investigated the following crash:

• At 8:50 a.m. on Friday, Emma S. Tinkle, 21, Rockville, was eastbound on U.S. 36 when a deer ran into the passenger side of her 2015 Chevrolet Sonic.

Reserve Deputy Joe Tesmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to 13 incidents recently:

• At 10:19 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Kappa Kappa Gamma on the DePauw University campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:24 and could not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:36 p.m.

• At 3:11 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 418 Anderson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:15 and were advised by maintenance that the alarm was due to smoking and was already reset. GFD went back into service at 3:23 p.m.

• At 5:12 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a box alarm for a structure fire at 3534 S. CR 450 South. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 5:21 and found that the occupants had ventilated the structure. They advised that a burning smell had been coming from the furnace. A clogged filter was removed from the furnace. GFD went back into service at 5:50 p.m.

• GFD went on four consecutive runs to 508 S. Indiana St. on the DePauw University campus on Saturday:

At 1:57 a.m., GFD was dispatched for a smoke alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:01 a.m. and could not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 2:06 a.m.

At 2:31 a.m., GFD was dispatched again for an alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:35 and could not find a cause for the alarm. The detector head was cleaned and GFD went back into service at 2:40 a.m.

At 6:06 a.m., GFD was dispatched again for an alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:10 and took down the detector. GFD went back into service at 6:16 a.m.

At 2:41 p.m., GFD was dispatched again for an alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:45 and tried to clean the detector head again and reset the panel. GFD went back into service at 2:59 p.m.

• GFD went on two consecutive runs to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. between Saturday and Sunday:

At 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:20 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 7:34 p.m.

At 1:11 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched again for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:17 and could not determine a cause for the alarm due to being unable to access rooms. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 1:29 p.m.

• At 2:46 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Alpha Tau Omega on the DePauw University campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:51 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 3 a.m.

• At 8:26 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:32 and could not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 8:59 a.m.

• At 9:16 a.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to Delta Gamma on the DePauw University campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:21 and determined the alarm was due to a stove malfunction. The panel was already reset when firefighters arrived. GFD went back into service at 9:28 a.m.

• At 12:14 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to 1001 Crescent Dr. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:21 and were advised that the alarm was due to construction work. The homeowner was contacted and GFD went back into service at 12:38 p.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed four medical assists and had five disregards.
