Organizers appreciate support of Ag Day

Thursday, March 24, 2022

To the Editor:

“Agriculture: Food Brings Everyone to the Table” was the theme celebrated at the 2022 Putnam County Ag Day event on Saturday March 12 where families came together to learn about a farmer’s everyday life.

Ag Day kicked off its festivities with an Ag Day Breakfast followed by a special program by South Putnam FFA members Catherine Hodge and Jacob Beadles.

Awards were also presented for Friend of the Farmer, Hall of Fame Farmer of the Year and Putnam County Farm Bureau’s Ag Production in Putnam County Photo Contest.

Immediately following the program was the Mini Farm Fest where families participated in hands-on activities and had the opportunity to interact with farm animals, sample milk and popcorn, view farm equipment, learn from a live wire safety demonstration and much more.

Our goal of reaching out to teach the community of Putnam County about the importance of agriculture could not have been achieved without the help our many sponsors and exhibitors, including: Putnam County Farm Bureau Inc., Putnam County Community Foundation, Farm Credit Mid-America, First Financial Bank, First National Bank, Hoosier Heartland State Bank, North Salem State Bank, PNC Bank, Tri-County Bank, Almost Home, Burger King, McDonald’s, Putnam Inn and Subway.

Also, Keegan Poe with “Chuck the Steer”, Putnam County Master Gardeners Association, South Putnam FFA, North Putnam FFA, Cloverdale FFA, Sam Fry and Co-Alliance, Cantonwine Family Rabbits, Purdue Extension Putnam County, Putnam County SWCD, AHW LLC John Deere in Rockville, Humphrey’s Outdoor Power, Pond Aeration with Bob Wehrman, Jeff and Parker Coffman and corn shelling, Noah Poynter Media, Poynter Aerial Ag, Putnam County 4-H Llama and Alpaca Club, Hendricks Power Cooperative, Grateful Gardens CSA, York Automotive, Jacob and Aiden Beadles, Indiana Pork Board, American Dairy Association Indiana Inc., Putnam County Antique Tractor and Machinery Association, Indiana Beef Council, Putnam County Sheriff Department, Indiana Soybean Alliance, Chandler’s Fruit and Vegetable Farm, Purdue Club of Putnam County, Indiana State Poultry, Putnam County Fair Queen Gayle Baugh, Thrive West Central, Brackney Insurance Group, Tri-County Bank and Trust with “Bessie the Milking Cow,” Janice and Babe the Pig and Woodall Family Goats.
