County Jail

Several people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 4:45 a.m. Jeremiah W. Bills, 43, Fillmore, was taken into custody for domestic battery.

• At 2:01 a.m. David A. Schmitt, 50, Coatesville, was housed at the jail for nonsupport of a dependent child.

Wednesday

• At 6:01 p.m. William W. Lowe, 22, Indianapolis, was booked in for possession of marijuana.

• At 3:04 p.m. Robert H. Greeson, 40, Fillmore, was lodged at the jail on a Montgomery County warrant.

Tuesday

• At 5:07 p.m. Andrew B. Dykman, 31, Greencastle, was taken into custody for driving without ever receiving a license.

• At 2:16 p.m. Sean J. Schultz, 23, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for criminal mischief.

• At 1:54 p.m. Ashlee E. Stanley, 35, Bainbridge, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine, theft, criminal trespass and criminal mischief.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 6:57 p.m. Monday, Emalie Kline, 29, Greencastle, was arrested by Sgt. Brad Hiatt.

Taken into custody at the Speedway East gas station at Indianapolis and Round Barn roads, Kline was arrested and lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a Hendricks County warrant for failure to appear in court on an original charge of theft.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated several recent property-damage crashes.

•At 8:43 a.m. on Tuesday, Mikayla Guyer, 26, Bainbridge, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2010 Honda Civic.

Guyer told Deputy Tanner Brown that she saw a limb fall from the top of a tree but could not get stop in time, hitting the limb that landed across the lane.

The car was towed. Brown estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 9:30 p.m. on Monday, March 14, Harvey N. Ferran, 39, Cloverdale, was northbound on South Meridian Line Road in a 2004 Ford F-250 when he hit a deer.

Deputy Randy Patrick estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three incidents recently:

• At 8:46 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 106 S. Spring St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:51 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 8:55 a.m.

• At 11:17 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 1015 Barrington Dr. for an electrical problem. Firefighters arrived at 11:28 and were advised by the homeowners that they heard a pop and there was a hot smell. It was found that the breakers had tripped and that one of them would not reset. No hot spots were found, and firefighters advised that power to the home be shut off and an electrician be contacted, as well as left smoke detectors. Duke Energy was also requested. GFD went back into service at 12:11 a.m. Thursday morning.

• At 9:01 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Blanchard House on the DePauw University campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:04 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 9:08 a.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed six medical assists.
