Retiring Old Glory

As a service to citizens whose American flags become unserviceable, an official U.S. Flag Retirement Box is now available in the main lobby of the Putnam County Courthouse. Provided to Putnam County by the National Association of Counties and the Association of Indiana Counties, the receptacle provides a place to store the flags until they are turned over to the Greencastle American Legion for proper and respectful disposal. The box gives an additional option for appropriate flag disposal in Greencastle, aside from outside the main entrance of the Legion Post 58, 1401 Indianapolis Rd.
