Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated four recent property-damage crashes.

• At 8:40 p.m. on Friday, Stacie L. Neiman, 39, Avon, was westbound on U.S. 40 near County Road 700 West in a 2016 Mazda CX-5.

She told Reserve Deputy Joe Tesmer she did not see a tree that had fallen in the roadway due to weather conditions and could not avoid hitting it due to the wet road. The tree damaged the windshield and top of the car.

The vehicle had to be towed. Tesmer estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 6:52 p.m. on Friday, Joshua A. Liming, 24, Greencastle, was westbound on U.S. 40 attempting to take the slight right onto County Road 200 South, the cut-through road to the east end of State Road 240, in a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser.

The road was wet and the wind was gusting, so the vehicle lost traction and did a 180-degree spin and slid off the road and through a gravel driveway and metal fence belonging to Co-Alliance. A road sign was also damaged.

The car was towed. Deputy Robert Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 7:41 a.m. on Friday, Tracy Sparks, 51, Coatesville, was westbound on County Road 250 North in a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox when she hit a deer.

Deputy Tanner Brown estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 9 p.m. on Thursday, Apryl K. Griffin, 58, Coatesville, was southbound on County Road 550 East at the intersection of County Road 200 North in a 2013 Ford Escape.

Griffin told Deputy Todd Hopkins she was going over the speed limit and was unfamiliar with the county roads in the dark. She missed the curve and left the roadway, colliding with a tree hard enough that the driver’s side airbag deployed.

The vehicle was towed. Hopkins estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.
