One arrested for DUI crash Wednesday night
CLOVERDALE – A Cloverdale man is in custody for drunk driving following a single-vehicle crash involving downed power lines Wednesday evening.
First responders were dispatched at about 8:45 p.m. for a single-vehicle incident with injuries at 9723 S. CR 425 East. Agencies that responded included the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Cloverdale Police Department, Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department and Putnam County EMS.
According to information provided by PCSO Cpl. Scott Ducker, Scott Miller, 44, ran off the road and struck a utility pole, causing power lines to straddle the roadway. Personnel were able to move the lines and safely get Miller out of his vehicle.
Miller showed signs of intoxication at the scene and was transported to Putnam County Hospital. A blood draw indicated that Miller had a blood alcohol equivalent of .163, twice the legal limit.
Once medically cleared, Miller was remanded to the Putnam County Jail on a Class A misdemeanor charge of operating while intoxicated.
Hendricks Power was called out to repair the utility pole. The roadway was reopened by 9:50 p.m.
A Hendricks Power representative told the Banner Graphic that about 40 utility customers in the area were without power before it was restored.
The arresting officer was Deputy Josh Deal. He was assisted by Cloverdale deputy marshals Virgil Lanning and Sam Fogle.
