Sydney Lawren Willis, 18, of Cloverdale, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 1:31 p.m.

Sydney was born on Dec. 19, 2003 in Bloomington to Kevin and Melissa (Hamm) Willis.

Sydney was a senior at Cloverdale High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, FFA, the varsity softball team and a participant in Girls’ State. She recently participated in the Greencastle Rotary International Speech Contest and was awarded scholarship money. Sydney was accepted and planned on attending IvyTech ASAP (Associate Accelerated Program) in the fall.

Sydney was a member of Millgrove United Methodist Church and New Providence Baptist Church, where she attended regularly and was recently re-baptized. Sydney’s nightly routine included reading and journaling in her Bible.

Sydney enjoyed fishing at her Uncle Matt’s pond or the river, riding the ATV at her “Pops” house, working out and weight training at the gym, playing cards or dominos with Grammy Mae and Grandpa Jim, goofing around with friends and making them laugh, but most of all aggravating her sisters.

Sydney is survived by her father, Kevin Willis (Amanda Whelchel); mother Melissa Willis (Jeff Gigli); beloved sisters and best friends Macky and Kennadi Willis; maternal grandparents Jim and Mae Hamm; paternal grandparents Curtis and Loraine Willis; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family, friends and teammates.

Visitation will be held from 10:31 a.m.-2:31 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 at New Providence Baptist Church, 6526 S. CR 550 East, Greencastle. Funeral service will immediately follow at 2:31 p.m. Sydney will be laid to rest at Hudson Hill Cemetery.

Sydney showed her love by giving the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sydney`s memory may be sent to Indiana DNR, the Special Olympics, and/or any organization of your choice.
