County Jail

Several people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 1:57 a.m. Johnny R. Corder, 30, Cloverdale, was taken into custody on two counts of criminal mischief.

Wednesday

• At 10:48 p.m. Scott E. Miller, 44, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 7:01 p.m. Amanda S. Jones, 49, Cloverdale, was booked in for battery resulting in bodily injury and battery against a public safety officer.

• At 6:45 p.m. Rick L. Green, 45, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for invasion or privacy.

•At 6:19 p.m. David W. Hauk, 40, Putnamville, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated and driving with a Schedule I or II controlled substance in the body.

• At 12:57 p.m. Robert C. Summers, 27, Poland, was housed at the jail for battery resulting in bodily injury.

• At 9:05 a.m. Destiny M. Baugh, 23, Indianapolis, was booked in for possession of marijuana and driving without ever receiving a license.

Tuesday

• At 6:49 p.m. James W. Frazier, 35, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for driving with an ACE of .08 or more.

• At 4:21 p.m. Gregory A. Boswell, 54, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine.

• At 1:59 p.m. Scott R. Wathen, 40, North Salem, was housed at the jail for resisting law enforcement, driving a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator and driving while intoxicated.

Monday

• At 12:04 p.m. Jalen S. Perry, 23, Fort Wayne, was booked in for battery resulting in serious bodily injury and battery by bodily waste.

City Police

Two drivers were each issued a summons by Greencastle City Police officers recently:

• At 2:02 p.m. Sunday, Jayland Imhaufsen, 21, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Stopped at Bloomington and Washington streets, Imhaufsen was issued a summons into court for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

• At 1:50 a.m. Saturday, Brian Hornaday, 41, Martinsville, was issued a summons into court by Sgt. Brad Hiatt.

Stopped on Bloomington Street, Hornaday was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction and for operating a vehicle without financial responsibility.

One recent speeding citation was issued by city officers:

• At 12:14 p.m. Saturday, Leland Buechler, 33, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer DeWitt.

Stopped on Shadowlawn Avenue at Highfall Avenue, Buechler was cited for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three car-deer crashes on Wednesday.

• At 8:06 p.m. Eric L. Thompson, 49, Rockville, was eastbound on State Road 236 in a 2012 Dodge Ram when he hit a deer.

Deputy Robert Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 7:16 a.m. April M. Merriman, 41, Greencastle, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 2007 Pontiac G6 when she hit a deer.

Cpl. Brian Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 3:09 a.m. Stephen Gottman, 59, Speedway, was eastbound on State Road 240 in a 2015 Honda Fit when he hit a deer.

The vehicle had to be towed. Deputy Todd Hopkins estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to four incidents recently:

• At 5:01 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to assist the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department for a fire at Lou’s Diner. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 5:19 and found a small fire contained to part of a wall. The fire was extinguished and power to the building was shut down. GFD went back into service at 5:51 p.m.

• At 3:07 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Green Willows/Cummins Behavioral Health for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:13 and were advised that the facility was conducting a fire drill. GFD went back into service at 3:15 p.m.

• At 8:31 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Humbert Hall on the DePauw University campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:35 and could not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 8:41 p.m.

• At 1:04 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to the Green Center for the Performing Arts on the DePauw University campus for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:11 and could not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 1:27 a.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed eight medical assists and had two disregards.
