This weekend North Putnam Thespian Society will present “Little Women the Musical.”

Shows will take place on Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 10 at 3 p.m. Doors open an hour before performance in the North Putnam High School Gym.

Tickets available at the door, $7 for adults and $5 for students, with children five years and under for free.

The musical of “Little Women” is based on Louisa May Alcott’s 1868–69 semi-autobiographical two-volume novel. It focuses on the four March sisters — traditional Meg (Gracie Gasper), wild, aspiring writer Jo (Ruby Sullivan), timid Beth (Shelby Merrill) and romantic Amy (Tori Smith) — and their beloved Marmee (Hannah Clodfelter), at home in Concord, Mass., while their father is away serving as a Union Army chaplain during the Civil War.

They are visited frequently by their socially aware Aunt March (Addie Jones) and their next door neighbors Mr. Laurence (Cameron Johnson) and his grandson Laurie (Tucker Elmore) and Laurie’s tutor Mr. John Brooke (Jakob Seger).

In the sanctuary of her attic, Jo writes representative short stories of the lives of her sisters and her, about the adventures of Clarissa (Kate Meyers) and the villainous Braxton (Asa Foxworthy). Jo ventures to New York to try and sell her stories and lives in a boarding house, where she befriends the other boarders such as Professor Bhaer (Arrick Kramer) and the owner Mrs. Kirk (Hailey Smith).

Also helping with the production are stage manager Breanna Richardson and her stage crew, Bryce Johnson, Jaycee Farris and Asa Foxworthy. In the orchestra pit are Abigail Gaddis, Madelynn Burgess, Jubilee Majors, Grace Dillon, Baylee Miller, Hannah Walton, Lilian Gaddis, Christian Young and Gavyn Johnson. The pit will be directed by Matthew Wargel. Show pianist and rehearsal pianist is Morgan Asher. Choreography is directed by Kirstin Mindiola, set design by Linda Gjesvold, vocal direction by Jennifer Graybill and directed by Dustin Bond.

All are invited to come out and support the talent at North Putnam High School.
