Jeannette Sharp, 79, of Quincy, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.

She was born July 30, 1942 in Greencastle to the late Grace and Vivian “Bib” Sackett.

She graduated from Cloverdale High School in 1960 and then Indiana State University in 1964. She taught physical education and coached most girls from 1964 to 1995 until she retired. She was a pioneer for women’s sports starting G.A.A. and coaching most girls’ sports in the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. Later in life she was an avid sports fan for Cloverdale, but mainly her grandchildren later in life. She loved her coffee and was a collector of coffee cups, dolls and was a QVC number one customer.

She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Sharp, whom she married in September of 1962; daughters Terri Fogle of Neoga, Ill., and Traci Scott of Cloverdale; grandchildren Chanda Mowery, Jimmy Mowery, Bradanne Toney and Brantson Scott; great-grandson Mason Mowery; nieces Angie Shirk, Sharon Perkins, Donna Smith and Deanna Harris; nephews Rick Quinette and Mark (Wendi) Garrett; and many great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Bernadine Quinnette, Rita Garrett and Buzz Sacket, as well as her son-in-law, Wes Fogle.

Funeral services for Jeannette will be held Saturday, April 9, at 1 p.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Cloverdale Cemetery.
